seniors and juniors

1.  Seniors - the slide show is almost done - if you turned in pictures, you can come and get them.  If not - you MUST have them to Mrs. Reed by Wednesday 4/23 or you will NO be in it.

2.  Seniors -  you need to turn in your Project Graduation sign up sheet to Mrs. Reed - room 305 - ASAP.  Graduation night is almost here, and we are scheduling times and teams and placing orders.  We NEED your information.

3.  Juniors - Class of 2009 - Believe it or not - You first - Project Graduation Parent Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 20th at 6:30 p.m. in room 305, - please use the pool doors.  This meeting will be to start the 2009 parent committee - if your parents want to be involved, please tell them to come.

Get a Job

Seniors interested in signing up for job interviews for Senior Job Days may do so in Mr. Walker's  office.  You may sign up for five(5) interviews.  The interviews will be held on April 22, 24, and 25 and May  2.  They start at 3:00.  Sign up for the companies you want to interview with and the time you would like to interview.  These are real interviews be early, and dressed appropriately.  Mr. Walker will get the applications to you after you sign up for the interview.  The businesses participating are Able Body, Cliffstar, Crossland Construction, Doane,  KOAM-TV, Leggett & Platt, Cardinal Scales, Lowe's & Sutherlands.  There may be other businesses added to the list so watch for the schedule on the bulletin boards.

Tutoring Opportunities are listed in Mrs. Cragin's office to sign up.

 

 

 

·      Junior HighWCJH has a request from a parent needing a student to help a 7th grade boy in all subjects. He needs help in Math on Monday-Thursday, from 3:00-3:45 p.m. 

 

·      Middle School is needing students to help with Family Reading Night once a month on Monday's.  Time will be from 3:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., April 14

 

·      Eugene Fields is needing students to help with tutoring on Monday-Thursday's.   Time will be from 3:00 -4:00 p.m. 

 

·      Eugene Fields Family Reading Night:  is needing students to help with the students on reading.  The time is 3:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m., April 22

 

·      Mark Twain Family Reading Night:  is needing students to help with the students on reading.  The time is 3:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. April 21

 

·      Summer School Tutoring:  Come in to sign-up for this great opportunity to get all your hours completed.  May 28th-June 26th

 

VERY IMPORTANT FOR ANY A+ Eligible  SENIOR " NOT" getting Honor Diploma Scholarship can be eligible for the A+ Supplemental Scholarship.  This scholarship awards $250.00.  Come by Kelli Cragin office to pick up application & details.  Deadline is by April 17.

 

Andy Brown Scholarship this year will be $1,000.  Some requirements;  2008 senior, admitted to a College, University, Community College or Technical School, in need of financial assistance, other scholarships or grants not to exceed $15,000, submission of 3 recommendation letters, a minimum GPA of 3.5 and a few other details.  If interested please pick up application at counselors office or Kelli Cragin's office.  Deadline is April 16.

Speech & Debate

Please join me in congratulating the following students for
outstanding work at District Student Congress at the La Quinta Inn,
in Joplin, MO on Monday, April 7th.

Chance Liles placed 2nd in the Senate and will advance to national
competition in June.
Kyle Ogle placed 1st in the Ozark House and will advance to national
competition in June.
Stephanie Bibb placed 3rd in the Carver House and is an alternate to
national competition.

Drumline Rocks

Please join me in congratulating the Winter Drumline. This weekend they traveled to Kickapoo High School in Springfield and competed with 15 other Percussion Ensembles in the Scholastic Regional A Class. They received 1st place in their championship performance. The list of performers include

Special Olympics

Special Olympics spring events will take place Friday, April 18th. All A+ and Honor students that have signed up need to go talk to Mrs. Stinnett in room 102 before Wednesday, April 16th.

They are responsible for making arrangements with their teachers and completing work. They cannot participate if they are making 2 I's or F's, or 1 I and 1F.

Prom Info - Listen up!

1. Prom is at MSSU in Billingsley Center this Saturday, April 5.
2. Senior Walk will be at 8 p.m. with the dance immediately following.
3. Seniors and their dates need to meet me at the flagpole at MSSU between 7:30 and 7:45 so they can fill out their forms telling us how to say their names.

Any student attending prom MUST have a ticket.  If a student earned free tickets by working concessions, then he/she must see me to get the tickets.  Purchases must be made between 2:35 p.m. and 3 p.m. due to classes being in session until that time.  Buy tickets in Room 600.

7th from 7:00 to 7:40.

Congratulations goes to David Allen and Zack Calton. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education recently notified Webb City High School concerning the selection of these 2 students to the Missouri Scholars Academy.  They are among the 330 students from across the state who will attend a three-week tuition-free Academy.  University of Missouri Columbia will host the Academy.

Prom Tickets

Prom tickets will be sold from 2:35 to 3:00pm (NOT during study hall) in Room 600. Tickets will be $10 for seniors and $30 for juniors. If you are a junior who worked a concession stand, then your ticket will be $10 or free, depending on how many you worked. Tickets will NOT be sold the night of prom, so students need to buy them by Friday, April 4. They will be on sale daily after school.

Senior walk will begin promptly at 8 p.m. Seniors and their dates will need to begin lining up between 7:30 and 7:45 p.m. on Prom night (April 5th) so they can fill out their information sheet for announcing their names.

Webb City High School senior Kyle Ogle has been selected for the 2008 Missouri Scholars 100, a statewide program that honors 100 of Missouri's top academic students in the graduation class of 2008.  Students will be recognized at a luncheon In Columbia, MO on Sunday, April 13th.  Another Webb City senior, Derek Benham received Missouri Scholars 100 Honorable Mention. The Missouri Scholars 100 program is sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals.  Selection for this honor is based primarily on a formula using the student's grade point average and ACT or SAT score.  Each student had to meet criteria of an Academic Decathlon which included ten events designed to assure the academic strength of the student.

1.  Big Man On Campus - Saturday, March 29th 7:00 p.m. $5 at the door.  Come and see the Senior Boys show some comic grace as they participate in a "beauty  contest".   This year, the Freshman, Sophomore and Junior Boys will be providing intermission entertainment!  You don't want to miss this hilarious show!

2.  Seniors!  There will be a 2008 PARENT Project Graduation Meeting - Thursday, March 27th, 6:30 p.m. Room 305.  Tell your parents, we need them to come, we need their help.

3.  Student, Faculty and Staff - have you purchased your raffle ticket to support project graduation.  You could win a 2008 Mustang.  Tickets are $20, please see Mrs. Reed room 305 or Sadonna in the front office.  Hurry - the deadline is March 29th, the drawing is at Big Man On Campus.  Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell your parents, please support Project Graduation!
